    Good morning. New York. I'm Aaron Jolly. Spring just showed up 11 days early. Step outside and you're feeling 50 degrees right now, but that's just the warm-up act. New York City climbs to 71 degrees today, albany and Syracuse both hit 70. That's well above normal for early March. And we're gaining nearly 3 minutes of daylight each day with the spring equinox just 10 days out. As the sun sets. Here's where things split, western New York gets the wet side of this warmth. Rain showers roll in around 11 A.M, near Buffalo and Rochester. Thunderstorms possible through tonight. You could see up to a half inch of rain before it clears. The rest of the state? Dry and mostly sunny all day. Tonight stays mild — lows only drop to the mid-40s statewide. That's warm for March, patchy fog develops along the coast after midnight. Wednesday brings another warm day before a powerful cold front crashes the party Wednesday night. Highs reach the mid to upper 60s again, but rain and thunderstorms arrive after dark. That's when temperatures take a nosedive. Thursday morning, the front sweeps through with rain changing to wet snow, temperatures plunge from the 60s into the 30s during the day. Winds gust to 35 miles an hour behind the front, making it feel even colder. Any snow accumulation looks light. Friday stays chilly with highs in the low 40s and a chance for rain and snow mix. Saturday improves with partly sunny skies and highs near 50. Sunday brings clouds and another chance for rain as the next system approaches. Enjoy the warmth while it lasts.     Good afternoon. New York. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside right now and you'll feel something that doesn't belong in early March. Actual warmth. New York City hits 66 degrees this afternoon. That's 25 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year. The entire state is soaking in this mild air. Down in the city, sunshine pushes you to 66. Albany reaches 62. Buffalo sits at 58, though breezy southwest winds gusting to 39 miles an hour will keep things lively out there. Tonight stays mild under partly cloudy skies. Most of the state holds in the mid-40s. Western New York cools to 43. Tuesday brings more sunshine and even warmer temperatures. New York City and Albany both climb to 68. Buffalo hits 58 again, with a chance of rain showers after 8 A.M. but here's the twist. A powerful storm system barrels in Wednesday night. Rain arrives Wednesday evening — heavy at times — with potential thunderstorms. This system dumps one to two inches of rain statewide. With snowmelt already underway, flooding is a real concern. The Tonawanda Creek is already in minor flood stage today. Thursday morning the cold front slams through. Temperatures crash. Rain switches to wet snow for some areas. Western New York could see one to three inches of lake-effect snow. Winds howl from the northwest at 15 to 20 miles an hour, gusting to 25. By Thursday afternoon, temperatures fall into the 30s statewide. Friday stays cool with a chance of rain and snow showers. The weekend remains unsettled with more wintry weather.
