    Atonal -
    Music that avoids a strict tonal center, music that lacks any real sense of “home” to the ear.

    Canon (semi-canonic) -
    Overlapping imitative lines in music

    Appoggiatura -
    A non-chord based note or ornament to the music that suspends or delays going to the ear’s desired note. Meant to create a sort of yearning sensation.
