About this listen

History is never lost. Some history is simply waiting to be rediscovered...beyond the Mists of Time. In the one hundred and twenty years between the end of the US Civil War and the start of the 24-hour per day cable news era, the enormity of the history that occurred was matched by the number of news outlets there were. Cities like New York had multiple newspapers with multiple editions each day. Radio news consisted of 10-15 minutes of broadcast time throughout the day, where details were few. And before the dawn of the television news age, movie reels shown in theaters around the world lasted only a few minutes at most. So rapid was the turnover in what was reported as major events soon became minor events in the face of larger events that captured the world’s attention. Is it any wonder that some historic people and events became veiled in the mists of time? The goal of this podcast is to pierce that veil and remind the world of people and events that captured the world’s imagination before fading from memory.Copyright 2025 All rights reserved. World
