  • Ep. 1 - Gurmehar Kaur on Activism in India
    Apr 1 2022

This week on The Melting Pod we are joined by Indian peace activist and author Gurmehar Kaur.

At only 3 years old, Gurmehar tragically lost her father in the conflict between Pakistan and India during the Kargil War. She has since risen from her early challenges to become an advocate for peace, receiving major attention for a short film she released to promote peace between Pakistan and India. Gurmehar has carved a place for herself as one of India's most notable young activists with Time magazine including her in their "10 Next Generation Leaders".

On this episode, she discusses her feminist upbringings; the complexities of her father's death; the tensile relationship between Pakistan and India; and the culture of female violence in India.
