  • #13: Folic Acid and MTHFR: Friend or Foe?
    Oct 8 2025

In this episode of the Manolo G Podcast, we dig into something that doesn’t get talked about enough: folic acid. You’ve probably seen it on cereal boxes or vitamin labels, but most people don’t really know what it is or that it might not be great for everyone.

We talk about what folic acid actually does, why it’s added to food, and how it helps with things like DNA production, red blood cells, and preventing birth defects. But here’s where it gets interesting. Up to half of us have something called the MTHFR gene mutation, which can make it harder for our bodies to process folic acid properly. That can lead to a buildup of the synthetic chemicals in your system, and that’s where some real issues can start.

We go over what that means, understanding the mutation, and better ways to get your folate naturally through food or smarter supplements.

This episode is about understanding your body and making choices that actually work for you.

  • #12: The Most Moral Diet: Vegan, Vegetarian… or Neither?
    Sep 24 2025

We always hear people say vegan or vegetarian is the most moral way to eat… but is it really? In this episode, I break down the ethics of food through a different lense. From factory farming to plants giving off stress signals when you cut the grass, I dig into whether plants actually suffer too and what that means for our choices.

What surprised me is there’s actually a diet that might beat both vegan and vegetarian when it comes to morality. It’s one I didn’t expect to find.

So if you’ve ever wondered what the “most moral diet” actually is, or you just want to challenge your own assumptions about food and ethics, this episode’s for you.

  • #11: Coffee vs Tea: The Brain Chemistry You NEED to Know
    Sep 17 2025

This episode of the Manolo Podcast dives into what coffee and tea actually do to your brain. We break down the science behind caffeine, how it blocks adenosine to keep you awake and how it triggers a stress response. Coffee hits hard and fast with a big caffeine punch, which is great for a quick boost but can leave you jittery or crashing, especially if your body metabolizes caffeine slowly. Tea, on the other hand, has L-theanine and catechins, giving you a smoother, longer lasting focus along with some extra health perks. We also talk about stacking caffeine with L-theanine for maximum brain power, the long term effects on your body, and why caffeine can be addictive. Plus, I give practical tips on when and how to drink coffee and tea to get the most out of them and why knowing your own genetics can actually make a difference.
