About this listen
But here's the paradox. While the United States and the EU have been trying to reduce their reliance on coal, other nations, including China and India, continue to build coal-fired plants at a blistering pace. Some less developed countries, including Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Malaysia, are committed to a coal-fired economy.
So, what are we to do? Should we pull back on our coal mining to protect the environment, even though our emissions are significantly lower than those of China and India? Or do we seize this opportunity to sell coal to these countries as part of a larger trade strategy?
On today's show, host Dr. Katherine Johnson will discuss the role that coal plays in the rapidly growing global economy and provide a balanced view of the pros and cons of "clean coal."
