Good morning. Iowa. I'm Michael Mosby. Step outside right now and you'll feel 46 degrees of spring teasing you. That's where we've been all night. And that's where we're staying for a bit. Here's the split today. Western Iowa gets mostly sunny skies and a high near 56 with breezy northeast winds around 11 miles an hour. Central Iowa? You're the warm spot — 68 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Eastern Iowa hits 62, but storms fire up after 4 P.M. Down in the Quad Cities, patchy fog clears by mid-morning, then you climb to 67 with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms. As the sun sets. Tonight's the real story. Southeast Iowa — you're in the Enhanced Risk zone for severe weather. Large hail over 2 inches and tornadoes are possible between 4 P.M. and midnight. If you're in that corridor, , central Iowa sees a brief rain chance around 4 A.M. Western Iowa gets mixed precipitation between 1 and 5 A.M., peaking around 3 A.M. Lows drop to the low to mid 30s statewide. Wednesday turns raw. Rain showers taper off by 1 P.M., then partly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 40s. Northwest winds gust to 26 miles an hour in central Iowa, stronger out west at 30. Those gusty winds and dropping humidity create fire weather concerns. Here's your week ahead. Thursday warms back up — mid 50s to low 60s. Then another system arrives late Saturday into Sunday with rain and snow chances. Spring equinox is just 10 days away, but winter's got one more card to play. As the sun sets. If you're in southeast Iowa tonight, keep your phone charged and weather alerts on. Looking ahead. See you this afternoon.
