  • Idaho Weather 3/7 Evening - Frost Burn to Flip Flops
    Mar 8 2026
Good evening. Idaho. I'm Michael Nally. Step outside today and you’ll feel that classic early March tease. Sunshine has temperatures pushing toward 54 degrees, almost feeling like spring. But don't get too comfortable. This weekend is a tale of two Idahos. The Treasure Valley steals the show. You’re waking up to 40 degrees, but this afternoon you’ll hit a stunning 66 — that’s 24 degrees above normal. Clear skies stick around with just a whisper of east wind at 5 miles an hour. Sunday is a carbon copy. But Monday? Reality checks in. A cold front drops highs to 54. And northwest winds gust to 14 miles an hour. By Monday night, you’re back to 29. That's a 37-degree swing in 24 hours. Eastern Idaho starts cooler at 36 degrees. Patchy fog creeps in after 10 PM tonight. Sunday afternoon warms to 56, but watch out. A Wind Advisory is in effect from 8 AM to 9 PM. Southwest gusts hit 32 miles an hour — strong enough to toss around patio furniture. Monday brings a sharp cooldown. Highs plummet to 42. And by Tuesday morning you wake up to 24. That’s a 32-degree drop from Sunday’s peak. Northern Idaho is the outlier. You’re stuck at 45 degrees with mostly cloudy skies. Rain moves in by 5 AM Sunday, then turns to snow as temperatures crash. By Sunday night. Coeur d’Alene drops to 31 with rain and snow likely. Accumulations stay under half an inch, but slick roads are guaranteed. The real story? Snow is likely every single day through next Saturday. If you’re heading over Lookout Pass, pack chains. Winter isn’t done with you yet. Looking ahead, the rollercoaster continues. Tuesday and Wednesday bring gusty winds statewide — up to 45 miles an hour in exposed areas. Eastern Idaho warms up Thursday to 57, but the Panhandle stays stuck in the 40s with daily snow chances. Enjoy the sunshine today, but keep the snow brush handy. See you tomorrow.
