About this listen
Raise your hand if you already feel exhausted just by looking at your calendar for December.
We actually call this "December Dread"—that specific exhaustion you feel by having so many obligations yet so little emotional bandwidth.
You look at the parties, the family dinners, the reunions, and the corporate mixers, and you feel heavy. Most of us think the solution is better time management. We think that if we organize our calendar better, we can survive it.
But here is the hard truth: The reason you are feeling this holiday fatigue is not that you lack time. The reason is that you are abandoning yourself to please or accommodate others.
In this episode, I’m sharing a concept I came across called the "Energy Audit" by researchers Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz. The core philosophy is that time is finite, but our energy is renewable. We cannot create more hours in a day, but we can change the quality of the energy we bring to them.
I truly believe we need to learn how to allow ourselves to enjoy and genuinely have fun during the holidays. You have faced a lot of challenges this year, and it is important that we spend the holidays meaningfully and intentionally.
