    Today, Jim sits down with Casey Eichfeld, a 4x USA Olympic Slalom Canoeist, father, and husband. A dedicated competitor since the young age of 5, Eichfeld has represented the U.S. at the 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2024 Olympics in the Men's Canoe Single (MC1) event. His performances on the world stage, including strong finishes at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships, Pan American Championships, and numerous World Cup events, have earned him recognition as one of the top slalom canoeists in the U.S. Beyond his athletic prowess, Eichfeld is committed to promoting the sport and inspiring the next generation of paddlers. His journey reflects a deep sense of discipline, perseverance, and a desire to give back to his community. Whether competing or mentoring, Eichfeld strives to be a role model both on and off the water, balancing his athletic career with his family. His holistic approach to life exemplifies the mindset of an athlete who is continuously striving for top-performance, both in sport and in life. As a promising young high school basketball player, despite being illiterate, he went on to play for the University of Arkansas where during this time, he also served in the U.S. Army and continued his education. Dean’s dream of playing professional basketball was realized when he was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics. After 3 years in the NBA and playing overseas for 11 years, Dean returned to Arkansas to pursue a degree in History and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a master’s degree in Education. In his book, “Power Forward”, Dean shares his experiences and the importance of pursuing an education and reaching for your goals.
