You're pushing 86 by early evening, that's 41 degrees above normal for early March. Moving on. Early morning brings scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10 A.M, the coast sees the best chance between 6 and 9 A.M. After that, partly sunny skies take over with southwest winds around 5 miles an hour. As the sun sets. Tonight stays mild — lows only drop to the low 60s statewide. Warm enough that some record high minimum temperatures could fall. Wednesday cranks up the heat even more, metro Atlanta reaches 82 degrees. The coast climbs to 86. Eastern Georgia? A scorching 89 degrees — some spots could flirt with 90. Near-record highs are in play, southwest winds pick up to 10 miles an hour, gusting to 25. Here's where things get interesting, a cold front barrels through late Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Expect widespread showers and thunderstorms — some could be strong. Rain totals of half an inch to over an inch are likely. Temperatures crash. Thursday's high only reaches 61 in Atlanta, 79 on the coast. Metro Atlanta hits 79 degrees this afternoon under partly sunny skies. Down near Savannah, mostly sunny with a high near 82. Eastern Georgia takes the crown — 84 degrees once that patchy fog clears by mid-morning. Tonight stays mild. Lows drop to the low 60s statewide. But here's where things get interesting. After 6 P.M., showers and thunderstorms develop around Atlanta. By overnight. Here comes a 50 percent chance. Western Georgia between I-75 and I-20? Tonight, a line of thunderstorms develops across western Georgia between 6 P.M. and 1 A.M. Some storms could turn strong to severe with damaging winds and small hail. The threat is highest between I-42 and I-42. Metro Atlanta sees a 5042 degrees shot at showers and storms, with lows around 62 degrees.
