As Cypress' musical epiphany and Uyanga's enchanting song reveal the mysteries of the Celestial Script of Virgo, the party discovers that they are all cursed to phase out of existence in a process called "Celestial Ascension" in just 16 days. Headmaster Zagria advises them to find Virgo's burial place to return the Celestial Script, but Malcotin and other forces of Truthkeeper Prionus discover their secret and arrive to capture the students and return them to the Library of Evolution. As Nova joins, the party ambushes Malcotin's team and acquires the gems that Zagria needs to modify their memory.

After battle, Zagria and Gaius decide to erase their own memories of the party to protect them from Prionus, handing those memories in a runic stone to Uyanga. Meanwhile, Nova offers to act as a distraction with hopes that the party's celestial curse can help her reunite with her father. The party flees the Celestial Conservatory, join up with their animal companions, and narrowly escape capture by scaling the outer wall and running into Fettigorn Forest. After a night of wild magic and two friendly Elks, they discover that their destination lies somewhere near the mountains around Starstep, so they prepare to journey forth.
