This image became damning evidence against Oswald as it depicted him with the same type of rifle used to assassinate President John F. Kennedy. From the moment the photo surfaced, conspiracy theories abounded. Critics claimed it was a forgery, pointing to supposed inconsistencies in lighting and shadows, Oswald’s facial features, the proportionality of the rifle, and his seemingly precarious pose. Were the pictures faked? Were they used to set up Oswald?
