एके दिवशी हनुमानाने सीतामाईच्या कपाळावरील कुंकवाबद्दल कुतूहलाने विचारले. प्रेमळ हसत सीतामाईने सांगितले की ती पती श्रीरामांच्या दीर्घायुष्यासाठी कुंकू लावते. हे ऐकताच हनुमानाच्या मनात अपार भक्ती निर्माण झाली आणि श्रीराम अमर व्हावेत म्हणून त्याने संपूर्ण अंगावर शेंदूर लावला.श्रीराम आणि सीतामाईने याचे कारण विचारल्यावर हनुमान नम्रपणे म्हणाला की देवीसाठी थोडे कुंकू पुरेसे असते, पण सेवकाला आपल्या प्रभूसाठी अधिक लागते. त्याच्या या निष्कलंक भक्तीमुळे आजही हनुमानाची मूर्ती शेंदूराने मढवलेली दिसते.

बोध : खरी भक्ती ही निस्वार्थ प्रेमाची असते, जिथे श्रद्धा तर्क आणि अहंकारापेक्षा मोठी असते.

One day, Hanuman noticed the red vermilion mark on Mata Sita’s forehead and curiously asked her about its significance. With a gentle smile, Sita explained that she applies sindooras a prayer for the long life of her husband, Lord Rama.
