• #46 | Derby Day Disaster | Manchester City 4-1 Manchester United
    Mar 8 2022

It's perhaps no longer a surprise to see Manchester United lose out in a Manchester derby, but it is sobering to see them do so in a limp fashion. Unfortunately, that is the reality that faces us after Ralf Rangnick's side went down 4-1 to Manchester City at the Etihad.

Against all natural impulses, Simon, Josh & James convened the next day to talk interesting selections and another Jekyll & Hyde performance from United. There's also chat about Roy Keane's post-match anger, Top Four chances diminishing, Spurs on Saturday and our first proper talk about who should be the next man in the Old Trafford hot seat, Ten Hag or Pochettino?

    Feb 24 2022

We're back, again! Things have been quiet at The Devil's Trident HQ lately but we couldn't miss out on talking about Manchester United in the Champions League!

It may not have been a performance that we look back fondly on, but the result and the way the game ended was. Our Swedish upstart Anthony Elanga came off the bench late on to keep Rangnick's men very much alive in the last 16 going into the second leg against Atletico Madrid at Old Trafford in three weeks time.

After the game, Simon, Matt, James & Sam discussed a disjointed performance at the Wanda Metropolitano, what the result means for us going forward plus our equally topsy-turvy Premier League form.

    Enjoy, Reds!

  • #44 | Broken & Rotten | Aston Villa 2-2 Manchester United
    Jan 16 2022

The sign in the away end at Villa Park on Saturday evening, alongside the on-pitch performance, summed things up for Manchester United. It read 'Broken and Rotten from Top to Bottom' and it's hard to argue.

Ralf Rangnick's side are bewilderingly inconsistent and disjointed during the games, but there's also evidence of a huge disconnect growing off the pitch.

The morning after the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, Simon and Matt worked up the willpower to talk about United throwing away a two-goal lead, Ronaldo's interview, the Rangnick/Martial drama plus all the other uncertainty floating around the club right now.

Going against our natural outlooks, it's not the upbeat chat. You can blame Manchester United Football Club for that!

  • #43 | New Year's Reservations | Manchester United 0-1 Wolves
    Jan 4 2022

We may have turned over to another year on our calendars but Manchester United haven't turned over a new leaf to start 2022 with much renewed positivity. After a disrupted Festive period hit by COVID cancellations, Ralf Rangnick's side have flattered to deceive on their return with a true mixed bag of results.

Defeat against Wolves at Old Trafford on Monday leaves everyone with more questions than answers about where Manchester United stand, where they're going, and whether the interim manager can get his underperforming stars (Phil Jones aside) to buck their ideas up.

Post-game, Simon, Matt & Josh discussed the baffling recent form and looked tentatively ahead to next week's FA Cup game against Aston Villa, as well as assessing United's top four ambitions.

  • #41 | Ole's Box of Chocolates | Manchester United 3-2 Atalanta
    Oct 21 2021

Just like Neil Warnock's Middlesbrough, you truly never know what you're going to get from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United, do you?

After a entirely lacklustre display against Leicester City in the Premier League, the Reds pulled another stunning second half comeback out of the bag in the Champions League against Atalanta at Old Trafford to go from the boot of Group F to the driving seat.

After the game, Simon, James, Josh and Sam caught up to go over all the action and look ahead to Liverpool at the weekend.

    Enjoy, Reds!

  • #40 | Must Do Better | Manchester United 1-1 Everton
    Oct 3 2021

After the high of 95 minutes into Wednesday's Champions League game against Villarreal, Manchester United once again bumped back down to earth in the Premier League.

Whilst a draw at home to Everton isn't shameful, it does represent yet more home points dropped and once more, it was completely avoidable. Inevitably, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now faces more pressure in certain quarters because of his team selection, final whistle facial expressions and his sides general inconsistency. Some of those views are arguably valid.

Either way, we're told talking about your problems helps so Simon, Matt and Sam did just that after the final whistle.

Thanks for listening and be sure to subscribe and review wherever you can if you enjoy the show!

  • #39 | Points Over Performance | Manchester United stop the rot in the Champions League
    Sep 30 2021

After a pretty torrid week, Manchester United managed to pull a win out of the hat in the dying embers of their Champions League group stage game against Villarreal! Cristiano Ronaldo popped up with seconds left on the clock to relief Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of some of the pressure himself and his team had piled on him in the last eight days or so with two defeats on the bounce.

It was a win the manager desperately needed, and one that should provide a confidence boost before Everton on Saturday. On this episode, Simon, Josh, James and Sam gathered to talk all of that and more!
