  • Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds: Triathlete Fights Cancer
    Mar 2 2026

Dr. Jeffrey L. Reynolds is a social entrepreneur, thought leader, and accomplished author whose remarkable journey spans over three decades of public service, athletic excellence, and personal triumph over adversity. As a nonprofit executive dedicated to strengthening communities, Dr. Reynolds has earned the trust of donors, media professionals, elected officials, and countless families who have turned to him during their most challenging moments.

A passionate endurance athlete, Dr. Reynolds transformed from a "weekend warrior" into an Ironman triathlete, completing the grueling 140.6-mile Ironman Florida race in 2021. His athletic achievements include marathon running and triathlon competition, demonstrating the same discipline and determination that defines his professional and personal life.

Just months after crossing the Ironman finish line, Dr. Reynolds faced his greatest challenge yet—two cancer diagnoses within two years. First prostate cancer, followed by Stage 3B colorectal cancer. Drawing from his athletic training and decades of helping others navigate their darkest moments, he approached surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation with remarkable resilience and grace.

This profound experience became the foundation for his recently published book, "Every Mile Matters: How Triathlon Trained Me For Triumph Over Cancer." In this powerful memoir, Dr. Reynolds reveals how the principles of swimming, biking, and running translated into navigating cancer treatment, offering hope and practical wisdom to others facing similar battles.

Currently leading one of Long Island's oldest and largest nonprofits, Dr. Reynolds serves on multiple boards and remains committed to making Long Island an even better place to live, work, and raise a family. He combines his experience as a two-time cancer survivor with his nationally-renowned nonprofit management insights to promote health equity, early detection, and the transformative power of resilience in overcoming life's greatest challenges..
