The Daily Adventures of Mixerman

A recording engineer known only as "Mixerman" discusses his plan to surreptitiously post an online diary about his upcoming LA recording session with a Major Label bidding war band and an infamous producer. Madness abounds.

This story was read by well over 150,000 music professionals at the time of its posting 20 years ago. It was published as a hard cover book by Hal Leonard in 2008. Then made an audiobook in 2012 complete with music, leitmotifs, sound fx, foley, with an ensemble cast of the most famous producers and engineers on earth performing the character dialogue. And now I present to you the final audio version, with even more music, and more story enhancing sound. Next stop the television studio.

Please note: In the first chapter, Mixerman can be heard typing as he writes. Worry not. This only occurs in this one particular episode. it's a wild ride. Just buckle up and enjoy it.

Mixerman meets his assistant Lance, and attempts to pull tones with the drummer of the band, which proves to be a far more difficult task than usual. The producer calls in with some distressing information.

Mixerman loses it when his drum mics are inexplicably torn down by the PA delivery man. He must once again pull tones with the drummer, who Mixerman has taken to calling Dumb Ass given his constant intellectually challenged act. Mixerman is hopeful that the Producer will make an appearance.

After Mixerman musters up the courage to ask Willy Show a very important question, he takes a moment to explain his strategies for getting Lance to the session on time, and Dumb Ass to the session late. We get more background information on the band and their marked disdain for one another.

Willy Show finally makes an appearance to the session. As Willy and Mixerman proceed to seek a drum tone appropriate for the record, Willy makes a somewhat offhand derogatory remark, which causes Mixerman to unpack the dysfunctional nature of the band, and his relationship with them all.

In an effort to edit a usable drum take, Mixerman pulls out his trusty razor blade along with a variety of other tools to edit the analog tape. Dumb Ass gets in the way, as per usual. Mixerman decides to eat the chocolate muffin.
