About this listen

Two guys. Two cousins. Two best friends. Most importantly, two fathers. Both have vastly different experiences, differing backgrounds, points of views, hobbies and careers. With our box of tapes, we're looking to create and educational and vulnerable platform for parents alike, with both hosts sharing stories, experiences and takes on a subject without it coming across like you, the listener, are being coached on "how you're doing this wrong" or "you need to do it how we tell you to do it". Instead, we share our stories in hopes others can gain from them without being told how to interpret what you hear. We're not experts. We're not preaching. We're just discussing one on one with each other growing our own bond in hopes that our growth will allow others to grow too. These are our Dad Tapes.

After a couple wee's of some family issues, the Dads record in the dad-cave again but this week with a nice IPA from The Alchemist Brewery from Stowe, VT. The beer they had was a cold, crisp Double IPA called Heady Topper with a 8.0% ABV. Both Dads agree it's a solid 4.25 despite the heaviness. The weekly catch-up starts with Josh disclosing some medical issues that have been plaguing his household. Then Richard discloses some medical stuff that has occurred to him as well. Oh the irony. I guess that's why the bums couldn't record last week -- or the week before. Shmucks.

The show then transitions to An Aware Dad, with a reading from 'The Daily Dad', written by Ryan Holiday. Tonight's reading was titled 'February 6th, It Takes Discipline'. Be sure to listen to this week's insightful reading. The show then progresses to the topic of the week.

Tonight, Dads, we’re diving deep into some philosophical territory. We’re asking a pretty heavy question: what in your life is truly worth of eternity? And if you’re not living the life you want to live, how do you make that change? We’re drawing inspiration from dead philosophers who figured this stuff out centuries ago.

After an exchange of some in-depth conversation and questions, the show progresses to their "Shit-uations". Tonight's Shit-uations has Josh reading blurbs from FML.com.

This week starts with the Dads cracking a nice cold Poolside, which is a Mexican Lager from Tonewood Brewing, in Barrington, NJ. It's a 5.2% ABV and both Dads agree this is a perfect, toned-down Modelo but not a Modelo -- if that makes sense... Next week we will be rating the beer on a 0-5 scale, so we can reference our Untappd.com profile for all of our beer rankings. Then the weekly catchup where a silly question gets thrown around just before the show progresses.

The show then transitions to An Aware Dad, with a reading from 'The Daily Dad', written by Ryan Holiday. Tonight's reading was titled 'February 5th, Make Sure They Know That They Are Plenty'. Be sure to listen to this week's insightful reading. The show then progresses to the topic of the week.

This week, the Dads talk about friendships -- what it was like before kids, what it's like after kids and how they maintain friends through fatherhood.

After an exchange of some in-depth conversation and questions, the show progresses to their "Shit-uations". Tonight's Shit-uations has Josh reading blurbs from FML.com.

The Dads are back at it again, and again but hopefully this time longer than the last. That's what she said. Welcome back! That's at least what the Dads think everyone said back. This week, though, the Dads are drinking a combo of drinks, due to some "unforeseen circumstances". The focus drink being Big Wave by Kona Brewing Co., it's a Blonde Ale with a 4.4% ABV. Both Dads think it's an average beer, tasty, but still settles around an average range. The show then progresses into a the normal weekly catchup before the bulk of the show. Hint, this week...it's about catching up. These f*cking guys, am I right?

The show then transitions to An Aware Dad, with a reading from 'The Daily Dad', written by Ryan Holiday. Tonight's reading was titled 'February 4th, Love Is About Service'. Be sure to listen to this week's insightful reading. The show then progresses to the topic of the week.

The goal of this week is just to catchup with each other and get to the importance of recording -- and listening. To each other.

After an exchange of some in-depth conversation and questions, the show progresses to their "Shit-uations". Tonight's Shit-uations has Josh reading blurbs from FML.com.
