Dr Emily Denniss is a lecturer and researcher in public health nutrition at Deakin University. Emily in interested in nutrition communication online and how this is impacting our dietary patterns. Her PhD investigated misinformation and disinformation online, with a particular focus of instagram posts from prominent accounts posting on nutrition content. You'll have to listen in for the astonishing results. Emily is also interested in tackling the problem of ultra-processed foods and is working on this topic currently. Dr Stephen Townsend is a lecturer in sport sociocultural studies with the School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences. His PhD investigated MuhammadAli and how he was viewed in black only newspapers during 1960-1975. Steven also nearly got the chance to meet him during this time. We discuss his research journey from sports teacher to PhD, his big hitting research team includinginternational experts, a unique story of one of the first documented domestic violence murders where the guilty pleaded insanity, the reality of academia and what it’s like to have the same job as Indiana Jones. We discuss the background and financial success of Esports, his journey to beginning hisPhD (which I humbly forgot I supported), the outcomes of his published work on caffeine and Esports performance + health benefits, his recent trip to Europe to share his findings and his favourite re-watched show – the office.
