  • Colorado Weather 3/9 Morning - 29° Above Normal
    Mar 9 2026
Good morning. Colorado. I'm Michael Mosby. Forget winter. Today's all about sunshine and serious heat — we're running 29 degrees warmer than normal. The kind of March day that has you questioning whether you even own a winter coat anymore. Denver climbs to 73 degrees under bluebird skies. Colorado Springs hits 71. Grand Junction reaches 69 with barely a breeze. That southwest wind gusts to 21 miles an hour along the Front Range, keeping things lively but comfortable. Perfect weather for a lunch break outside if you ask me. But here's the catch — all that warmth and bone-dry air are creating critical fire danger. Red Flag Warnings are up for the San Luis Valley and parts of the I-25 Corridor through 7 P.M. Humidity drops to single digits in spots. Any spark turns into trouble fast, so skip the outdoor burning today. No exceptions. Tonight stays mild. Lows settle into the upper 30s statewide with mostly clear skies continuing. Tuesday keeps the heat rolling with low 70s again, but a weak system brushes through. The northern mountains and San Juans could see a few snow showers by evening — nothing major, maybe an inch or two at the peaks. Eastern plains might catch a scattered shower. A cold front drops through Tuesday night and knocks temps down slightly for Wednesday. For the week. Wednesday cools to the 50s behind that front. Then the heat cranks back up. Thursday through the weekend we're climbing into the 70s and flirting with 80 degrees by Saturday. That's 29 degrees above normal for mid-March. Fire danger ramps up again with gusty winds returning late week. Sunday brings a chance for mountain showers as moisture finally tries to sneak back in. Enjoy the warmth today — just keep those matches in your pocket. See you this afternoon.
