About this listen

Some things are easier to hear than to read. The Blue Hug Journal is a collection of short audio reads, each one a companion to the articles on our blog. Pour a cup of tea, take a breath, and let us come to you. Each piece runs just a few minutes and covers the topics that matter most to caregivers, care recipients, and anyone navigating the bathing and dignity journey: bathroom safety, aging in place, caregiver wellness, and the quiet courage it takes to give and receive care with grace. No episodes to follow. No schedule to keep. Just real, warm, practical content whenever you need it. We're here for dignity, independence, and comfort. Share this with someone in the caregiving journey with you. You're not doing this alone. Bathe with us. We're The Blue Hug.Copyright 2026 The Blue Hug Hygiene & Healthy Living Relationships Social Sciences

  • Why The Blue Hug Is More Than a Product
    Apr 29 2026

Some products are invented. This one was lived into.

Jodi Bellam spent more than a decade inside elder care before The Blue Hug existed. As owner of Better Off At Home, an in-home care company serving Metro Atlanta families, she wasn't observing the challenges of assisted bathing from a distance. She was in the room.

This episode tells the story behind the product: the failed first prototype sewn in a craft room, the months of fabric testing, the marine grade zipper that finally worked with one hand, and the question that drove every decision. What does the person wearing this actually need in the most vulnerable moment of their day?

Dignity, comfort, and independence were never features to be added. They were the starting point.

We're here for dignity, independence, and comfort. Share this with someone in the caregiving journey with you. You're not doing this alone. Bathe with us. We're The Blue Hug.
