Well that’s a wrap on my Gold Cup adventure – and I think the better team won on the night.

It’s been a real privilege for me to work at this year’s tournament. Meeting so many different people and helping to tell their stories has been a real joy. Last night’s final – and it’s end to end excitement, passion and atmosphere – was the cherry on the cake.

As you sip your coffee this morning, you’ll probably know the result – I’ll stay quiet, in case you’re relying on catch-up….

This was my view of the USA vs Guatemala semifinal yesterday. No matter the result, win or lose, I want to tell you about the incredible Guatemalan colleagues and fans that I’ve met during my time here.

It’s loud, it’s passionate – the atmosphere is electric. Come with me….

Guatemala and the USA march on after I watched two quarter-finals in one day go straight to penalties after 90 minutes. I’m all for it.

Let me tell you about why, about the dream that has become reality for one of Guatemala’s brave boys, and about the goalkeeper who did his homework at Harvard before saving three penalties for his country.

I’m in Minneapolis today – and I’ve got some breathing space before my next game.
