As they say, “things get better with age.” They could be referring to wine… we definitely believe that it refers to people! But it may also apply to episodic podcasts. And this, our second episode of The Bee King Kindred - A Genealogical Adventure, substantiates that reference!

Your host, Antonina Gaynor shares with our listeners her “magical bag” of resources. Her co-host, Jonas Sears calls it “magical” because of valuable information she finds that has been waiting for generations to be discovered.

Antonina delves deep into the interesting story behind a firm branch of our family tree that isn't directly related to James Saunders… the Bee King.

In Jonas’ opinion… that's one heck of a tree! More so, you're invited to listen for a vintage recording (played in the background) of yet another Great Grandfather who is still considered the greatest fiddler in Missouri history!

Story-wise, this episode focuses on the horrendous times of “Bleeding Kansas,” a border conflict between pro and anti-slavery warring factions that helped trigger the Civil War; and that produced some of the most infamous, post-war, outlaw gangs in U.S. history.

And finally, in the “Dad's Journal” segment, Jonas recalls lessons learned from another of his mentors - Jesse Owens, a world champion athlete!

So relax and enjoy what we strongly believe will be a great listening experience for you!

Oh! One final point. Jonas referred to the Westport, family-owned market of his childhood as “Sweeny’s.” Well, his memory kicked in and it was actually “Honie’s Market.”
