  • The AHL Pre-Show Episode 23: Hockey Podcasts That Precede Unfortunate Events
    Feb 21 2025

It's Season Two of The AHL Pre-Show! Andrew Rinaldi and Deanna McFeron are back to preview the upcoming week of American Hockey League games. Along the way - our hosts are sure to provide you with a healthy dose of chaotic energy, pop culture references, and everything in between as they break down the weekend action ahead.

The crew begins by discussing one of the lengthier suspensions coming down the pipe as Donovan Sebrango gets slapped with six games. We can't blame him, but the rules are the rules. Grigori Denisenko is on his way to Milwaukee, proving once again that Henderson can't have nice things. Charlotte breaks out some AHL nostalgia this weekend, and the crew debates if Oklahoma City's Barons title was fair or foul to the good folks of Cleveland.

Looking ahead, Denisenko doesn't have to wait long to see some old friends making his debut in Milwaukee. Colorado comes to Texas, where opponents outside the Central Division have been finding points in bunches. Can Charlotte channel Albany's success against Hershey? Club Penguin continues their climb up the Atlantic and we've got a classic Pacific Division rivalry just two years in the making.

It's the hockiest hockey that's ever hockyed, and you can find it all on TAPS.

If you couldn't tell, the crew is pretty excited about Jordan Eberle's conditioning stint in Coachella Valley. Dea wonders if the captaincy transfers down to the American League while Andrew can't stop talking about the legendary 2012-13 Oklahoma City Barons squad. Round Two of the brouhaha between Wilkes-Barre and Hershey had it all, including a little controversy that has us wondering when the AHL will join the 21st Century.

Is Grand Rapids in trouble? Yes. How much trouble? Andrew has another crash out about the Griffins. It could be even worse if Texas has a successful Friday night in Manitoba.

Club Penguin and Hershey reunite for a Round 3 of Brouhaha this week and the crew is ready for more bad blood and more drama.

Can Henderson make it interesting? Mitch McLain and the Silver Knights are on fire and clawing their way out of an early-season hole. Andrew might be jumping on the bandwagon to Nevada. Wrap things up this weekend with the Battle for the North with Laval and Rochester getting after it.

It's the hockiest hockey to ever have hockeyed, and you can catch it all this week on TAPS.

Andrew rejoices in a Central Division win at the All-Star Classic in Coachella Valley. Two beats combining for a big W - the crew break down the fun and games to open the show. Flowers are given to the award winners of the month - Sasha Pastujov, Ville Koivunen, and Cayden Primeau's resurgence that has Dea excited for the young netminder's future. The crew also discusses Vinnie Hinistroza's waiver claim by a division rival and how that's going to impact Milwaukee's chance at a three-peat to the Central crown.

With the All-Star break over, we're officially in playoff chase season. Can the Griffins wake up for Andrew's sanity? He'd like to see some goals again. Dea breaks down a classic AHL matchup in Toronto/Laval this weekend. Cleveland looks to get back into the North race, but they have to log in to Club Penguin in order to do that.

How does one get up for Iowa/Manitoba this weekend with little implications for the postseason run? Is Andrew that obsessed for Central Division hockey? This week Club Penguin comes to Hershey and the crew discusses the pride on the line for Chocolate Town to respond to the 9-0 loss the last time these two teams met.
