About this listen

Agree with me or your are wrong!! What absolute nonsense! Hi my name is Jenna and I get things wrong. I am happy with that position of learning through uncertainty, thinking out loud, speaking with a variety of people and opinions, messy action, listening and asking questions. I am in the very early stages of my podcast and have learned a huge amount already. After the contraversy and censorship of 2020 and beyond I am on a journey of unlearning, learning and forming educated opinions not simply repeating what I have heard.Jenna Platt Social Sciences

  • #TNWAQ11 Gareth Wyn Jones. What this country needs is a farming revolution. #TNWAQ
    Jan 21 2023

What this country needs is a farming revolution. The UK needs to safeguard farmers because they play a vital role in producing food for the country and supporting the economy. Blaming them for environmental pollution is unjust, as many farmers have implemented sustainable practices and are working to reduce their impact on the environment. Additionally, many of the environmental problems facing the farming industry, such as climate change, are caused by factors outside of their control. By protecting and supporting farmers, the government can ensure a stable food supply and help mitigate the effects of environmental pollution.

In this episode, I speak with Gareth Wyn Jones, a farmer from North Wales, on why the country needs to invest more in agriculture. Gareth shares what he often talks about on Twitter, the disconnection between people and food, why livestock is now being blamed for the environment, and the importance of local, seasonal, and regenerative agriculture. He also talks about the amount of food going to waste in the country, the benefits of real food, and the effects of lifestyle on our health and agriculture.

    ● “We can make a difference, but we must open a conversation and talk about the climate crisis.”

Are You Smart Enough To Home Educate Your Children?

Home education, also known as homeschooling, is a popular alternative to traditional schooling for many families. One of the biggest advantages of home education is that it allows parents to tailor their children's education to their individual needs and abilities. This can result in a more personalized and effective learning experience, as children can work at their own pace and focus on subjects they are most interested in.

Additionally, home education allows for a more flexible schedule, which can be especially beneficial for children with special needs who may have difficulty attending a traditional school setting. In this episode, we are joined by Amy Jones, a teacher who home-educates his two boys. Amy shares why she decided to home-educate her children, the structure of qualifications in home education, and the experience of starting home education. She also talks about the effects of targets in schools, how the system is failing children with special needs, and the lessons she has learned from home education. Don’t miss a thing on this. Tune in to learn more!

    ● “The trouble in many schools now, especially secondary, is children are disengaged.”

    ● “If you are trying to teach a child something and they are not ready, then they won’t learn.”

    ● “Some children need different support, which is why schools cannot work for everyone. If we try and fit children in those boxes, then their mental health is going to struggle.”

  • #TNWAQ9 - James Esses . What is the cost of free speech, debate, being a voice for children? #TNWAQ
    Jan 21 2023

Gender ideology refers to the belief that gender is not solely determined by biology but rather is a social construct that can be chosen or expressed in various ways. This perspective has led to increased acceptance and visibility of transgender and non-binary individuals, but it also has sparked debate and controversy. Some argue that gender ideology undermines traditional gender roles and norms, while others claim that it expands opportunities for children and gives them more freedom to express themselves. Regardless, it has had significant impacts on children, as they feel pressure to conform to certain gender stereotypes or question their own gender identity in a confusing or difficult way.

In this episode, I am joined by James Esses, an advocate of gender ideology and its impacts on children. He is also a former psychotherapist trainee who was expelled because of advocating for the effects of gender ideology. James shares his experience with gender ideology, the best way to tackle gender ideology, and why children are caught up in gender ideology. He also talks about the effects of gender-affirming surgery.

[36:12] The effects of gender-neutral on children

    Notable quotes:

    ● “Gender dysphoria is a mental health condition.”

    ● “The cruel narrative we are giving to children is that the way to be your true self is fundamentally changing yourself.”

    ● “We should be looking to help change people’s minds and not their bodies if they are feeling discomfort. “

    ● “The message of, you can be whatever you want to be irrespective of what anyone else thinks even if it is biologically untrue, is a very cruel message.”

    ● “We are all a blend of different traits and characteristics. There are more feminine men and more masculine girls, and nothing is wrong with that. People should be able to dress and express themselves how they want, but it doesn’t mean that they need medication surgery.”
