About this listen

Two tragic stories of freak crocodile attacks… Cindy Waldron (Australia, 2016): Waldron, 46, was taken by a crocodile while swimming at night with a friend at Thornton Beach in Daintree National Park, Australia. Her remains were later found inside a 14-foot crocodile. Paul McClean (Sri Lanka, 2017): The 24-year-old Financial Times journalist was killed by a crocodile near Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka, after stopping to wash his hands in a lagoon known for its crocodile population.

A crocodile’s bite force is among the strongest in the animal kingdom, and their primary method of killing prey involves dragging them underwater to drown them, often performing a "death roll" to disorient and dismember. And saltwater crocodiles, the largest reptiles in the world, are notorious for attacking humans when they get too close.
