XVi-XX) puede sintetizarse en una sentencia general, que procuraremos matizar: cierto inmovilismo en la doctrina sacramental y en la praxis I¡túrgico-pastoral. En efecto, debemos distinguir una primera etapa donde la teología está alineada con la recta doctrina del Concilio (s. XVI-mediados s. XIX) frente a los errores protestantes. Y una segunda etapa de restauración y renovación, que culmina en el Vaticano II y su reforma (s. XIX-XX).
