The evil creature that is helping the bad to escape, has chosen the human that will allow the bad to be free from its prison. Winnie has passed the word onto a small number of villagers that know about the secret, that the tree is in a terrible condition, and time is running out. As a sign that things are changing, reports in newspapers that gnomes, goblins, and dragons have been spotted, and as Winnie walks home, she is met by a group of Brownies, on the way to a very special place in the wood.
