Una vez situados en el texto, se abordan cuestiones sobre la autoría, fecha de composición y género literario. Por último se enuncian las principales interpretaciones de esta singular obra. El estudio del Cantar nos ayudará a valorar la belleza y dignidad del amor entre varón y mujer según el proyecto divino y a aprender a ver en las expresiones con las que se describe ese amor un camino apto para profundizar en la relación entre Cristo y la Iglesia y entre Dios y el alma.
