Laura is a Survivor. In part two of this two-part episode, we continue where we left off at the end of Part One as Laura continues to share her heartbreaking story of growing up as a "gypsy" girl in Scotland at the hands of an abusive father, being prostituted to raise money for the family and left with the undeserved responsibility of caring for her siblings at a very young age.

Experiencing the injustice of being robbed of her childhood because her father and other relatives abused her and "sent her out" to get money for the family, and ultimately having autonomy over her own body stripped from her.

" The struggle is real...there is a real struggle out there and it's time we made people aware of this...our own Government aids in human trafficking...South Africa is one of the biggest (and I'm gonna call it a hotspot) for trafficking to take place because of the corruptness that is going on in our country. Rape here is the only crime where you are considered guilty until proven innocent...and that is the victim it's not even the perpetrator! "

Listen to Emma's powerful story as a Survivor who is passionate about seeing change occur.

  • Tam's Triumph: From Victim to Empowered Survivor
    Aug 4 2024

Tam's Triumph: From Victim to Empowered Survivor ...that's just one way to describe her horrific journey. She bravely joins us to share her story of horrendous child abuse, and then suffering inside a domestic violence relationship at a young age.

Growing up in an environment where you're living with a certain amount of stress in your system, your first relationship (at least for Tam) is typically something that meets the same level of stress. When Tam started working on herself about half-way through that first relationship, things got worse, and she has her kitten to thank for preventing an attempted "end to it all".

The detail of her story includes things we should never expect to experience, but unfortunately are all too common.

"So for years I was a victim until I decided I was a survivor and I didn't have to be ashamed of what happened to me. I was a victim while I was ashamed, I'm a survivor, because I didn't do anything wrong!"

The good news is that despite it all, Tam is a Survivor, and expresses what that means and why she's chosen to become vocal about her journey and stand up for
    others.

"I'm proud of being a vocal survivor...like I wouldn't wish this on anyone and obviously I would love to not be damaged, but I'm proud of the fact that I verbalise stuff, that I say stuff what happened to me in an unashamed manner, that I stand up for other survivors, that I stand up for children. All of those things need to be done and if other survivors don't do it then it won't happen."

Have some tissues handy, be ready for some shocks, but at the same time, be empowered by her resilience and strength.

Madonna's Domestic Violence Story may sound familiar to those of you who are Survivors, but is perhaps also unique, in that Madonna's first Domestic Violence situation didn't start until about ten years into her first marriage.

Her first husband had serious issues getting work, so he went to University where he got involved in drugs, partying hard, and evidently, seeing other women. Madonna shares she doesn't know how he passed Uni but he managed.

That landed him a high-profile marketing job with a major building firm...still doing drugs...drinking heavily and still seeing other women.

"So...the abuse started then...and it didn't stop until he left me for one of those women...who happened to be one of my best friends!"

Listen to Part One of this Two Part Podcast as Madonna shares her experiences of both emotional and physical abuse in this powerful story.
