About this listen

Have you ever felt so overwhelmed and burnt out? Badly, you are stressed out. But you are not alone. Stress is a common experience that certainly happens at some point in our lives.

A recent research shows that over 70% of Americans report feeling stressed on a regular basis. But what exactly is stress, and why is it such an important topic to discuss? In this article, we’ll explore the definition of stress, the various causes and effects of stress, and most importantly, effective strategies for coping with stress. So, let’s dive in!

Stress is a natural response of the body to external or internal pressure. It is a state of emotional or mental tension caused by demanding circumstances.

For example, when you encounter a challenging situation, you feel uncomfortable. Your brain triggers the release of hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol, which prepare you  for the “fight or flight” response.  We call it stress.

When stress becomes chronic, it can have a negative impact on our physical and mental health. It can lead to anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, heart disease, and other illnesses.
