    Hockey talk and a bit of the Irish craic with NHL Historian/Author Liam Maguire and Go Hockey Media's Paul C. Cuthbert.

    Today Liam and Paul open up with all the Covid chaos, the sudden resignation of Paul Maurice, Bettman reduces Spezza's suspension, Ovechkin on the hunt for the power-play goal scoring lead and the Habs winning a game (with no fans of course).

    Liam takes us back to "This Day in Hockey" for some more Gretzky magic on December 17th and some special NHL birthdays.

    Paul then takes us through "This Week in Irish History" before the lads close out the show as always with an Irish toast on a personal note for Liam's friend and musician Les Emmerson of "5 Man Electrical Band"

    Today Liam and Paul open up tales of Paul's recent trip to New Orleans and Liam's upcoming live shows before discussing New York Rangers Jacob Trouba's recent big hits, Spezza's suspension and the Leafs/Jets game, hitting in the NHL, officiating, Turks' tough Rangers, tales of Bill (Ogie) Goldthorpe, all the latest coaching and front office moves, what's up with Arizona, is Quebec calling and are the Minnesota Wild for real?

    Liam takes us back to "This Day in Hockey" to acknowledge the Montreal Canadiens and Montreal Maroons first game on December 10th, 1924 and some amazing December 10th stats from "The Great One" Wayne Gretzky.

    Paul and Liam close out the show as always with an Irish toast on a personal note for Paulie with the passing of his Irish Uncle Gerry and a tale about the "Shamrock Painters."

    Sticks and Taps - Season 2 - Ep. 6 - November 12th, 2021

    Hockey talk and a bit of the Irish craic with NHL Historian/Author Liam Maguire and Go Hockey Media's Paul C. Cuthbert.

    Today Liam and Paul open up with some small talk again on health, workouts and tattoos before diving into the Isles Covid troubles during the opening of UBS Arena and ahead of tonight's game against cross-town rivals, the Rangers. The guys then look to the cause of McDavid's point scoring streak coming to an end against the Stars, who looked real good in their 4-1 win, Sutter's Flames stay hot, thoughts on the Olympic sweaters for Canada and USA before Liam gives us the background of the Toronto Maple Leaf logo.

    Liam takes us back to "This Day in Hockey" to acknowledge Chris Chelios passing Phil Housley for career games played by American born players.

    The Irish Connection of the week features a story about Bobby Kirk who was born in Doagh, County Antrim, moved to Manitoba and in addition to a 12 year pro hockey run that featured a one year stint with the Rangers, won the 1957 Memorial Cup as a coach. Liam explains that back home in Ireland a prestigious field hockey tournament called the Kirk Cup was named after his family and a very famous Irish song called "The West Awakes" was always played before the final match.

    Paul and Liam close out the show as always with an Irish toast wishing everyone stateside a Happy Thanksgiving and raising a glass to a few birthdays of close mates!
