About this listen
Shawnee Kish is revolutionary. As a Mohawk singer-songwriter, Shawnee was nominated for the 2022 Juno Award for Contemporary Indigenous Artist. Her debut EP was released in 2021. In the same year she was the creator of "Music Is My Medicine", a symphonic work which was performed by the National Arts Centre Orchestra. Shawnee is an outspoken advocate for her 2SLGBTQ+ and Indigenous communities and has shared the stage with some of the world's biggest names — Lady Gaga, Madonna and Alicia Keys to name a few.
Tune into this special Be Revolutionary episode of Spark to learn more about Shawnee, why she is lending her voice to amplify the work of music education charity MusiCounts, and what makes her revolutionary.
