As we return to the life of Zechariah, we see that the priest who doubted has now become the priest who believes. We see a man who was uncertain about God's faithfulness now declaring God's mercy. Luke begins with him to introduce one of the main themes of his book, which is that Christ has come to bring comfort to the weak and weary. Romans 8:35-39

The Bible teaches that, following His resurrection and ascension, Jesus took His place at the Father's right hand where He forever intercedes for His blood-bought people. Christ's intercession is not a commonly discussed reality, and yet it is one of the most comforting truths for the believer.
