  • Audio Documentary: How The Saints Won The Cup
    May 1 2026

In 2006, on the 30th anniversary of Saints winning the FA Cup, the club’s official historians, Hagiology Publishing, published Tie a Yellow Ribbon – How The Saints Won The Cup*. The book’s author, Tim Manns, was, at that time, station director of The Saint, the city of Southampton’s local, commercial radio station, which was a wholly owned subsidiary of Southampton FC.

On the same day, 1st May 2006, The Saint broadcast a one-hour documentary, How The Saints Won The Cup, featuring the voices of most the ’76 squad, along with some of the other key staff members, some of their opponents and the cup final referee. All of the audio came from Tim’s recorded interviews when researching the book.

This documentary has never been heard again until now, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Saints' finest hour.

*Tie a Yellow Ribbon is available to purchase at the Saints Store and from Hagiology Publishing: http://www.hagiologists.com
