Gott hat sein Herz gezeigt, als er sich Mose mit den Worten offenbarte: "HERR, HERR, (Jahwe, Jahwe) Gott, barmherzig und gnädig und geduldig (= langsam zum Zorn) und von großer Gnade und Treue, der da Tausenden Gnade bewahrt und vergibt Missetat, Übertretung und Sünde ..." (2. Mose 34,6-7). Es gibt viele Echos dieser Selbstoffenbarung Gottes in der Bibel, und eine wichtige Linie lässt sich beschreiben mit: "Wo Gott mir, so ich dir!"
