El Señor nos recuerda en Apocalipsis 2:4 que no basta con las buenas obras, la doctrina correcta o incluso el sufrimiento por su nombre si hemos abandonado nuestro primer amor: esa devoción sincera, íntima y apasionada por Cristo. El llamado es claro: vuelve a buscar la presencia del Señor antes que cualquier otra cosa, antes que el servicio, los logros, o incluso la recompensa.
Cuando dejamos ese amor primero, comenzamos a servir más por deber que por deleite. Y el peligro es real: el Señor advierte que si no volvemos a Él, quitará el candelero, es decir, su presencia, su luz, y su respaldo en medio de nosotros. Podemos seguir aparentando religiosidad, pero sin su presencia, todo está vacío.
