We all know the difference between love and lust but, let's dig a little deeper to understand the dangers of lust and how we can control feelings of lust in our lives. Lust separates us from others and God and eventually destroys us from within. We must move from a place of lust to a place of unconditional love.

Love is an act of service and willing others well; it is through this service we express how important another person is in our lives. True love leads the other person to heaven. Lust, on the other hand, is how the other person can serve us and how we can use the other person. We are called to be saints and to make others saints; lust destroys that. The opposite of love is not hate, it's lust.

Sex was desired by God to bring unity in relationships and to bring life into this world. We are called to love others as God loves them and serves them.

Many of us are addicted to so many things and unfortunately, we do not recognize it or admit that we are addicts. It could something as small as not being able to put down your phone or something as big as using drugs. We need to be able to set boundaries in our lives to be free from any kind of addiction.

God wants us to have restrictions in our lives on earth so that we can truly enjoy freedom in eternity. There are 3 types of addicts:

1. Those who are unaware of their addictions
2. Those who are aware of their addictions but are comfortable with it
3. Those who are trying to get rid of their addictions but don’t know how

What is going to fulfill our lives? Life is a list of things that lead us to fulfillment. But, how are we going to figure out what is best for us? How are we going to identify God’s will for our lives? Discernment is the answer. It is to make a decision based on what we have learned or understood. We need to get to know the heart, mind, will, and action of God to discern His plan for our lives.

It is possible to figure out God’s plan for our lives. Fr. Rob Galea gives us 5 ways to discern the will of God:
