About this listen

Welcome to the first episode of the “Even Here” podcast, a conversation about subjects that matter to all of us, both within and beyond the bounds of organized religion.

From our consumption-driven economy to our appetite for social media and personally-curated content, it’s easy to become self-focused. The self-help economy is a more than $10 billion industry. The term “selfie” has become commonplace in our everyday language. And even some churches preach the gospel of personal success and profit as a sign of God’s blessing.

But is this really gospel? Have we gotten distracted by our own self-interest and lost sight of the importance of the Common Good?

In this episode, we explore the idea of “Selfless Living in a ‘Me First’ World.” We’ll hear from four experts who share their thoughts and experiences about encountering this self-focused value in our culture, along with how they have used their platforms to propose a different way.

The “Even Here” podcast is a production of the Central Rocky Mountain Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
