About this listen

Singer/Songwriters Jim Causley and Miranda Sykes joined narrator John Palmer (director of the critically-acclaimed Vaughan Williams anniversary 'From Pub to Pulpit' Cathedral tour) to talk us through a new show entitled 'Ghosts, werewolves and countryfolk - the songs and stories of Sabine Baring-Gould'

Polymath and Victorian superstar Sabine Baring-Gould (1834-1924) was, amongst many other things, a best-selling novelist most notably for stories of ghosts, werewolves and Norse myths. Despite wide ranging interests he felt the most important part of his life was collecting songs from Devon and Cornwall, amassing more than 2000 songs. In the show Miranda, Jim and John interweave some of those songs with anecdotes from Baring-Gould's astonishing life and stories.
