Gli anni Novanta vedono la definitiva rinascita del Festival, con la competizione canora che torna ad essere un appuntamento fisso per la società italiana e quella sigla di apertura delle edizioni del 1995 e 1996, Perché Sanremo è Sanremo, una sorta di slogan nazionale ancora oggi ricorrente per spiegare, ironicamente, perché si guarda il Festival. I Novanta sono anche anni che vedono “evolversi” il ruolo della “valletta”: da Anna Falchi a Claudia Koll, passando per Sabrina Ferilli, Valeria Mazza, Valeria Marini, Eva Herzigova e Veronica Pivetti, questo ruolo – molto discreto sino agli anni Ottanta – si evolve, acquisendo quasi lo status di “co-conduzione”.
