On April 1, 2025, 22-year-old fisherman Gage Towles was fishing alone near the US-41 bridge in Punta Gorda when he was confronted by 40-year-old charter captain Brock Horner of Tarpon Coast Fishing Charters. The encounter, captured on Towles' GoPro, shows Horner aggressively approaching, boarding Towles' boat without permission, and shouting at the younger fisherman.
