About this listen
In the Gospel of Matthew, there's a moment that haunts me. Jesus, in the Garden of Gethsemane, turns to His closest friends and does something extraordinary: He admits He's struggling.
"My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death," He tells them. Not: I've got this handled. Not: Don't worry about me. Not: I'm fine.
But: I'm drowning. I need help. I can't carry this alone.
Divine vulnerability in the face of human crisis. The Son of God giving Himself permission to not be okay.
Permission to be human isn't something you earn. It's something you were born with. Permission to struggle, to need help, to not have everything figured out - it's your birthright as someone made in the image of a God who chose to experience human limitation.
