 Ruy López de Villalobos (Málaga, España, 1500 - Isla Ambon, 1546) fue un hidalgo y marino español que exploró las islas Filipinas y trató, sin éxito, colonizarlas y establecer una ruta comercial viable con los territorios españoles en América. Es conocido porque fue su expedición la que dio nombre a esas islas como «Filipinas» en honor de Felipe II de España, entonces príncipe, de quien toman su denominación actual.
