Morto a soli ventisei anni nel 1736, Pergolesi è un vero e proprio mito della musica barocca. La sua breve vita è segnata dal trasferimento, appena quindicenne, a Napoli, allora una delle più importanti capitali della musica in Europa. La fama arriva poco dopo la morte.
