• Acts 11:1-30 - A Surprising Work of God - 2026 - Acts - To the Ends of the Earth - Part 2
    Feb 15 2026
Today we will be jumping into Acts 11 looking at the surprising work of God among the Gentiles and the surprising response by faithful believers to join God in what he is doing. Sometimes it is easy to miss what God is doing, or even be offended at his work. We want to know what God has said about what he is going to do in the world, be able to identify it, and be faithful to join him as he goes about his work to redeem the world in Christ. This passage will challenge us in some great ways to join God in what he is doing in SLC and the world.

    Feb 1 2026
In our message today, Peter travels beyond Jerusalem to visit and minister to other believers and performs two amazing miracles much like Jesus. Unbelievers that witness the miracles put their faith in Jesus and the church grows yet again. The passage will illustrate for us that our lives are transformed by meeting Jesus, and transformed lives multiply as they live for Jesus.

  • A Future Hope for Today - 2026 - A Light in the Darkness
    Jan 25 2026
Throughout the history of Christianity, Christians placed their hope not in the temporalities of this life, but were constantly looking forward to the completion of their salvation when Jesus returns or they step into eternity. 1 Peter 1:3-9is a good guide in how to have a future hope that gives us life now. 1 Peter 1:3 says God has caused believers to be born again into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus from the Dead. This means this is an active hope, that is producing joy and expectation in us. Peter goes on to say that we have a great inheritance that God is keeping in heaven for us, and all of this causes us to rejoice now. Unlike other things we may hope in, our hope in Christ is sure. His resurrection proves what God has said he is doing to save us. Because Jesus rose from the grave, we can have a sure hope that we will too. This means whatever life throws at us, for believers, everything is going to end really well.

  • Living in the Light of Community - 2026 - A Light in the Darkness
    Jan 18 2026
We will be talking about Living in the Light of Community - How God has placed us as followers of Christ in his body, the church, to help us grow and persevere in him. The community of the church, the body of Christ does many things to help us live in the light of the Gospel. The church helps us identify and experience forgiveness and healing from sin. The church helps encourage us to persevere in the faith. Finally, the community of the church is there to be a support in times of sorrow, but also to rejoice with us when things go really well. As we go into 2026 I want to challenge you to live in the light of community in church, the body of Christ. This means making Sunday morning a priority, but also finding a smaller group of people in the church that you can live in honest and open community with. The goal is growth in Christ and perseverance in faith, as we experience the Gospel applied to our hearts, all the way to the end.

  • A Cure for Anxiety - 2026 - A Light in the Darkness
    Jan 11 2026
This week we will continue in our series A Light in the Darkness applying the Gospel to the dark thoughts that swirl around in our hearts and minds. This week we will consider what the Bible has to say about anxiety. Anxiety is a growing problem in our world and particularly in younger generations. The good news is that the Gospel meets our anxiety with great hope and peace. In Philippians 4:5-9 Paul gives us the Christian remedy to anxiety. He tells us three really important and practical things. First, God is at hand. In other words he is near and wants to help us in the things that we worry about. Second, he calls us to hand off our anxiety to God in prayer. We do that with earnest request and thanksgiving. Third, Paul instructs us to think on good and Godly things. This is really practical advice that can shed God’s light into the darkness of anxiety that can easily weigh us down. Finally, Paul tells us the result of walking out these really practical steps is that the peace of God will be with us and in us, and we will be guarded from further anxiety. That is great news. [Unfortunately there was a power outage in the area of the church during the sermon before this sermon ended, but we got most of the sermon]

  • Your Life Has Meaning - 2026 - A Light in the Darkness
    Jan 4 2026
On the first Sunday of 2026 , we will start a short four week series – A Light in the Darkness. In John 1:4-5 the Apostle John illuminates our hope in Jesus when he says, “4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” It is easy in the winter season after the holidays to let our minds wander from the hope of the Gospel as the pressures of the world bear down on us once again. Over the next few weeks we want to apply the light of the Gospel to our hearts and minds in the areas of meaning, anxiety and worry, living in community, and having a hope for the future. As we start the new year we want the Gospel, once again, to transform our hearts and minds so that we can walk confidently with Jesus in these dark days. Our is, what is the meaning of life? Why were you created? Everybody wants to find meaning in their life. When meaning fades or is lost, it is easy to sink in to depression or worse. We will look at Gen 1:26-28, Romans 12:1-2, and 1 Corinthians 10:31 as we think about what the Bible has to say about the meaning of life.
