About this listen

Right Up My Podcast is the podcast for those looking to explore different methods of self-care, self-love and ways to make you feel good.

Hosted by voice artist and presenter Gwen Watson and journalist and producer Kate White, Right Up My Podcast came from a mutual drive to find new ways to improve our own mental health.

Each episode we chat to a different expert about their feel-good forte, and then try it out for ourselves to see if it works... or if it doesn't.

It's frank, funny and honest, with the odd bit of over-sharing. So join us on Right Up My Podcast, because you deserve to feel good too!

Released fortnightly. Contains bad language and inappropriate laughter.
Music – Andrew Grimes. Artwork – Erica Frances George.

  • RUMP Rewind – Ep.53 - The Importance of Rest: Why our brains need it | Claudia Hammond
    Dec 18 2025

Old fave, new intro! In Season 7, we talked to psychologist and award-winning BBC broadcaster Claudia Hammond about the importance of rest. Claudia shares with us why it's so important to our health that we regularly have guilt free rest, what's happening in our brains when we rest... and when we don't. And why we all need to take it more seriously.

Her book The Art of Rest draws on ground-breaking research that Claudia collaborated on –The Rest Test – the largest global survey into rest ever undertaken, across 135 different countries.

Claudia Hammond is a broadcaster, author and psychology lecturer. She is the presenter of All in the Mind on BBC Radio 4 which covers psychology, neuroscience & mental health. Plus, the weekly global health show Health Check on BBC World Service. She is Visiting Professor of the Public Understanding of Psychology at the University of Sussex. She also writes a regular column on medical myths for BBC Future.

  • The RUMPette 40 – Microdosing Mindfulness
    Dec 11 2025

Holiday mode has hit early for Gwen and Kate, who bounce between life’s tiny joys (like micro-meditation while the kettle boils) and the big stuff — like why Christmas now turns up every three weeks once you’ve had 50 of them. They ponder whether Secret Santa could save family gifting, if 47 is too old to start long-boarding (it isn’t), and how couples with different bedtimes ever make it work. They even wonder if they can be better humans than just “women who talk about Netflix.”

What hobby have you taken up later in life?

  • RUMP Rewind – Ep.12 - SOMA Breathwork: Using it to manage stress and feel healthier and happier | Tim Snell
    Dec 4 2025

Old fave, new intro! Back in 2021, we talked to SOMA Breath Master Instructor, Tim Snell, all about SOMA Breathwork. Tim explains to us what SOMA breath is and where it comes from, bringing together ancient breathing and meditation techniques, music and guided visualisation.

We explore ways to still the mind in moments of stress, feel healthier and happier by elevating your emotional state and create more balance in your body and mind.

Tim also guides us through a SOMA Breathwork session and we share a short extract of the intro to this in the episode.

So take a deep breath and dive on in...

You can join a breathwork journey, book a 1:1 session with Tim or take part in a Virtual Retreat at https://www.timsnell.co/
