Mesmo em condições adversas, prisioneiros judeus iniciaram resistências e revoltas em alguns campos de concentração nazista. Esses trabalhadores lançaram insurgências contra os campos nazistas de Treblinka, Sobibor e Auschwitz-Birkenau. Em agosto de 1943, cerca de 1.000 prisioneiros judeus iniciaram uma revolta, apreenderam armas, picaretas e machados, e incendiaram o campo de Treblinka. Somente 200 conseguiram escapar, e metade deles foi recapturada ou morta pelos nazistas.
