  • Abolish the FCC: Free Speech Under Threat!
    Oct 20 2025

What a difference a year makes. As late as December of last year, after Trump was elected but before he was appointed Chair of the Federal Communications Commission, Brendan Carr said on X, "Censorship isn't just about stopping words. When you silence speech, you silence ideas....That's got to end." At the time he was criticizing Biden era attempts to end Big Tech-Government censorship partnerships. Like the Biden administration's strong-arming media to squelch propagation of any COVID narrative or Hunter Biden laptop narrative they didn't like. So far, so good.

  • Nepal Unrest Gen Z Overthrows Government
    Oct 20 2025

This week's Report focuses on the unrest in Nepal. No, I'm not currently in Nepal but I have been on several occasions in the past. I've done the hike to Everest Base Camp and spent a considerable amount of time in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. So I have a modicum of insight into the culture and economic issues facing the country. Situated astride the Himalayas, most of the country is mountainous. Nonetheless the primary occupation of 62 percent of the population is still agriculture. Nearly every square inch of arable land in Nepal is being farmed. That means terraces clinging precariously to mountainsides and potato patches even at very high elevations. And Nepalese farm families are still increasing their numbers. It's reached a point where some Nepalese farm kids have to leave the family farm. It's simply too small to further subdivide. Some of those displaced Gen Z workers have found employment in the tourist industry. But there's only so much demand for more waitpersons and mountain guides. That means that a lot of Gen Z workers are out-migrating to places like the United Arab Emirates or other countries in need of immigrant labor. The country-wide out-migration rate is 4.2 percent. But there's still a 20 percent unemployment rate among the Nepalese Gen Z cohort.

  • Second Amendment_ Court Ruling & Libertarian View on Defense
    Sep 3 2025

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal has the dubious distinction of having its rulings overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court more frequently than any other Court of Appeal. But in Nguyen v. Bonta the Court made a final decision that will almost certainly pass muster at the U.S. Supreme Court. The issue was California's law limiting the purchase of guns to one per month per individual.
