About this listen

Welcome to THE LINK: Bridging Faith and Life with Dr. Vincent Bacote! Every month, Dr. Bacote will introduce listeners to ways they can build connections between faith and life in their ministries and personal lives. This month Dr. Bacote shares an insight that came to him about the intersection of our path of sanctification and our efforts to live well together. Sometimes, when we have a great vision (e.g. such as a multicultural church), there can be greater difficulty to bring the vision to fruition than first imagined. Philippians 2:12 and Romans 12:2 both help us to see that all of us are "on the way" in our path of transformation, which also means that sometimes our differing trajectories of sanctification can be revealed as we pursue our goals. Let's reframe our expectations, and keep moving forward, though it will likely take longer to realize the vision.

Note: Dr. Bacote also mentions Carter G. Woodson, the founder of Black History Month at the beginning. You can read about him here: https://asalh.org/about-us/our-history/

Dr. Bacote is a professor of theology and the director of the Center for Applied Christian Ethics at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois.
